Located approximately 30 miles east of Atlanta, Covington, Georgia is the county seat of Newton County.  Once a part of the Creek Indian Nation, Covington was founded in 1882 and named after War of 1812 hero, General Leonard Covington.

Downtown Covington is surrounded by tree-lined streets and carefully restored antebellum and Victorian-era homes, churches, parks, and the Downtown Square.  Still the center of the community, the Square is often host to festivals and social events such as outdoor lunch and dinner concerts.

Frequently called “Hollywood South,”  Covington has become a popular shooting location for feature films and television series such as “In the Heat of the Night,” and “Vampire Diaries.”
